ClassicsWhat versions of the older games did you guys get? And what starters? Old news, but interesting to know I think.
Mine went as follows:
Blue: Charmander
Yellow: Pikachu (But no choice . . .)
Gold: Cyndaquil
Crystal: Cyndaquil
Ruby: Torchic
FireRed: Charmander again (Duh!)
Emerald: . . . Uh . . . Treeko, I think, actually. But maybe Torchic . . . Sheesh, I should check.
I go for the fire starter, mostly, for the original go. I play each version several times, (just can't stay away!) and will get different starters now and then. I wanted Red version instead of Blue originally, but all the stores were sold out of Red! So Blue was the alternate.

(My first was Gold, but I'll list them in order. And some I've traded back to the game store, but I have at least one from each generation still. :3)
The ones with * next to them belonged to one of my siblings or a friend, but I played them more.
Version: Starter - PlayerName
*Red: Charmander - Davis
*Blue: Bulbasaur - Ian
Yellow: Durrr... Pikachu? Haha. - John
Gold: Totodile - Jay
Silver(Traded in): Chikorita - Jerome
Sapphire: Treeko - Jalis

LeafGreen: Charmander - Jack (Either that or Jason)
And for Pearl, I've been thinking about it, and I am definitely getting Hiokazaru/Chimchar, because I reallyreally want to name him Goku! XD
As you can see, I always name myself beginning with J. It's become a weird tradition. And I'm always male.

I didn't think about names . . .I didn't think about my name. I would go by the name of Crash for the first few games, and then once Crystal came out and you could be a girl, then I would go by the name Raina. With Ruby, I've played through it lots of times and use names of characters I've made up like Chisoku, Vidra, Dashi, Ali, Nate, Seid, and others. I'm not always a girl but I am usually.
Oh, and the name Crash? It had nothing to do with Ash. I named myself after Crash Bandicoot! I was a big Crash and Spyro fan by the time I discovered Pokémon so used the names I knew. And that's where those names came from!

My brother loved those games. I'm a Spyro fanatic but I'm playing Twilight Princess a lot these days, because I'm an even bigger Zelda fanatic.

I had Bulbasaur in Blue
I would have had a Cyndaquil in Crystal, but my game wouldn't save. (Dang!)
I got Bulbasaur in Leafgreen (xD It's my favorite starter) but now my Leafgreen is..uh...Cursed..It kind of kept crashing and I freaked out and traded all of my good pokemon to my brother's Pokemon XD gale of darkness game x3
and I have a Mudkip (Swampert) in Emerald..Named...Puddle..

My Mudkip from Emerald was named Genghis (backwards H, dumb typo I got used to.) XD
And my Treecko (now a Sceptile) from Sapphire is named Masher. I have a lot of cool names. My Metagross is named Steven, because I named the Beldum in honor of him. :3

In honor of . . .I named my Bulbasaur Jake after the boy who first got me hooked on Pokémon. You know, cause Bulbasaur is #1 in the National Pokédex. I also named my Butterfree Derek after a boy who taught me a lot about Pokémon. He said a Butterfree was a must, so I named mine after him.
Another Pokémon I named after a friend was Abra. I named it Greg after another boy who, after flipping through a book of Pokémon, decided Abra was his favorite. I also named my Vaporeon Stacey after a friend of mine who liked Vaporeon.
Like mini homages to my friends! I'm weird . . .

My friend who got me into a LOT of video games (He un-isolated me from my "I only play SNES, Pokemon, Rockman and Legend of Zelda" days) has about ten Poochyenas/Mightyenas named after him. Robert, Bob, Rob the 3rd, and Robert!! just to name a few.

OH! I forgot! It relates to pokemon and my dog.
My dog was playing and running around outside in the backyard and he remnded me of Growlithe. He had the same colored fur except the fur was darker and a lesser amount. Well I said, "Growlithe! fire attack!" He replied by squating out, mouth open, and get this.........peeing on the ground! I started laughing like a maniac then he licked me. good times good times.

HAHAHA. I bow down to Vye and NeoGeorgia (You prefer a different nickname, let me know. XD) because one is the godly author and the other created this forum for me to sleep in instead of my mikan crate.
I mean, just imagine if the admin powers were nonchalanty given to everyone! Can you even think of what horrors I and Juan would wreak? 0_0 What a scary thought.
Anyway, getting back on track, I finally caught my first Mew on Yellow last month. I feel so amateurish for not getting one already... But now he's on Gold, becoming chummy with my other dear Pokemon. He already fits right in. :3

Why does the word "God" keep being used when referring to me . . .?
Mew is fun! My first Mew took on the Elite Four at level 38 . . . and won! Mew is a cutey . . . I also like how it can learn any move. Comes in very handy.
My latest Mew, (cheat codes come in handy too,) was on a team that was otherwise all Fire Types. When I do a Fire team, I still always get one Pokémon that I can use for Surfing and what not. (And to defend against Water types.) Mew had this position.

Haha, I just got it through the traditional glitch (That I spent about seven years thinking was a popular scam).
But I got Celebii from Journey Across America. It's on my Emerald, and I've been trying to decide wether I want to trade it to Pearl when I get it.

I have Mew, Celebi, Latias, Latios, Lugia, aaand alot more Pokemon. ^-^
I keep restarting my Blue version.... 
Once my Brother had a team of Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mew, Mewtwo, and Dragonite.

I completed the Pokédex in Blue, and then the whole Pokédex in Gold. I only completeed the Hoenn Pokédex in Ruby though. Just too many for me to handle to get all of them.

I could do that on Gold if I wanted. XD I still have 40 Pokemon to go before I beat the game though.
I completed it in Yellow though, and I had 200+ in Sapphire and Emerald each but I don't think I ever finished them.

I now have 2 or 3 Pokemon to go in Gold (I think Azumarill and Raikou) and it bugs me that I haven't finished in all this time. XD But then again, I refuse to use any cheat codes on my game, so that's probably slowed me up from my friends.

Crystal: ... Cyndaquil? And the name escapes me...
Ruby: Mudkip--Crush
FireRed: Charmander--Aragorn
Emerald: Treecko--Yvanna
Pearl: Turtwig--Valerian
I missed out on the RBY generation, because my parents were of the "POKEMON IS FROM THE DEVIL" mindset.
They aren't any more, though xD

Ugh, lemme think here...
The first time I played Blue think I picked Squirtle. On my second play it was Bulbasaur, and then on my third play it was Squirtle again, whom I named Shellshock. Afterwards I think I just kept picking Squirtle, naming him Shellfish, after Blastoise's Pokédex classification.
My first character was named Ash, and was prolly that the second time as well, but afterwards I mostly went with just Blue.
This would be a recurring theme in all my other Pokémon games, where the starter would be named after the classification of it's final evolution and the trainer after the version.
With that in mind, I had a Totodile in Silver, a Cindaquil in Gold, a Mudkip in Sapphire, a Torchic in Ruby, a Piplup in Pearl, a Charmander in both Red and FireRed (where the trainer was called Fire), and a Pikachu in Yellow (who was just named Pikachu).

um... I've never EVER completed a pokedex, I always make stupid mistakes and have to start again. Except for in diamond. (apparently me being 15 is good for something!)

Blue: First Squirtle, then Bulbasaur (Aryx)
Emerald: Treecko (Slifer) -- then it got stolen... I had a frontier badge, too =.=
New Emerald: Torchic (Evaen)
Leaf Green: Bulbasaur (Rune)
Diamond: Turtwig
I'm currently sitting at 330 in Emerald, no cheats... Going to get about 10-15 or so more from leaf Green as soon as I fix the stupid machine. Haven't caught Rayquaza yet; I plan on catching it as a shiny, ehehe. Then I'm going to get a few from Coloseum, and then I'll only be missing Mew, Deoxys, Celebi, Suicune and a few others.

To finish off my Hoenndex, I need a gorebyss, jirachi, deoxys aaaand... that durn shiny rayquaza o.o;;
But! I'm ready to get everything else [minus mew+celebi] as I just need to purify them on XD/Coloseum. Woohoo!
