Convention FeverI've seen a lot of talk about Anime Boston. I live in Idaho, way too far from Boston to make it. (So isolated!) I didn't really think much of it . . .
. . . until I read Dramacon.
I just got Volume 1 and 2 today because I had been wanting to read it. I loved it! It got me wanting to go to an Anime Convention! Not really as an artist or to find romance, but to meet lots of other Anime loving people and to make new friends and stuff. (I'd probably be too shy to actually talk to people but . . . you never know.)
So I got to researchin'. The closest convention is 200 some odd miles away and in August. Darn. Guess I'll have to wait.

They're amazing and wonderful and insane and YOU CAN HUG RANDOM PEOPLE AND TALK ABOUT ANIME AND MANGA TO YOUR HEARTS' CONTENT.
I still haven't found that hugging Ed from Boston last year... Those were some good times.
Dramacon is pretty much completely and utterly true. Not everyone finds romance, though. And you might make it through the day without getting on the wrong side of staff or getting into an argument.
... unless of course, you like dubs... -shot-
But my dad and sister might still make it, so THEY'RE going to have to wait three hours in Greg's line this time... Muahahaha.... >D I just bought the rest of Saiyuki and Reload manga last night.
What's the one near you called? I might be able to somehow force my way into making it. DX I just found out that I might not get to all of AB, so I'm trying for PortCon or something.

Heh, well the one I found is called Fandemonium or something like that. It's in Nampa, Idaho and goes from August 3-5. It has all sorts of stuff like Sci-Fi and Fantasy stuff along with Anime stuff. I hope hope the Sci-Fi and Fantasy stuff doesn't take up too much of the convention. I only like Star Wars and Star Trek a little and I'm not really into Fantasy.
(That's right, I think Harry Potter sucks! No offense if you love it though. Just not my thing. Goes for Lord of the Rings too . . . I'd actually watch Harry Potter before that one though.)
There are two other strictly Anime Conventions scheduled for next year but this Fandemonium (spell?) is closer. Time wise, anyway. Distance wise it's a littler further away.

I only watch http://animecons.com/. XD
I'm trying to get to Anime Boston (Boston, MA - I live about an hour from there luckily.), PortCon Maine (Portland, but that week my cousins and I as well as some relatives are staying at Misty Harbor, which isn't too far- score!) and Another Anime Convention (somewhere in New Hampshire). But I so badly want to visit other cons.
If I miss AB this year, that'll be my third time missing out on Greg Ayres' autograph >>;

Conventions are amazing! I got my mom and dad into dressing up as well xDDD

Ha, go your family! I would probably be too shy to dress up. That and I don't think I could make a worthwhile costume.

I wish I could go!I'd love to go, too, but I'm way way WAY too poor to make a trip like that. Not to mention my hubby would tie me to the mailbox before letting me go.... Huh. I wonder what the odds of that would be?
Anywho, if I can't save up enough to go with, get me a souvy!

Anyone close to Cali? I live in NorCal and they have a convention about 8 hours away in San Diego called ComiCon. It's like an anime lover's paradise. I haven't gone but my GodSister goes every year. And My friend goes to the WonderCon in San Francisco about an hor away from us every year. He says there's a lot of freebies.

Idaho is a few states away from California . . .
But it looks like my convention plans fell through. Just couldn't pull the funds together. Maybe next year!

yeah it sucks when you don't have the funds to do what's planned. glad my GodParents give me money! Each time I see them, I leave with about $250. Lucky huh?
