Favorite Moments

Sheesh, no wonder I have the most posts in this forum. I keep talking and starting new threads! Guess I'm trying to do my part to get discussions going. Or something.

Okay, enough rambling. I thought it might be fun to see what your favorite moments in Just Gotta have been. Was there any part of Just Gotta so far that you just want to read over and over? Was there a joke that made you laugh your head off? What can't you get enough of?

I mostly ask to see what I'm doing good at. I may, (if I get brave enough,) also start a thread at some point about least favorite moments to see what I need to improve on. We'll see. I also ask because I think it might be interesting to see what your answers are.

So . . . that's it! Thanks for reading, everyone!

When Pr. Evur was rummaging through his cabinet for a Poke ball. I like that one, and the part with the pillow and rock. I thought that was a really sweet part between Spyro and Hilaree, and the start of a great friendship, bonding by sharing secret powers.

Hmm... I also loved Robin's battle! Robin and Pr. Evur are my favorite characters, I think (Sorry Hilaree and Spyro, you guys rock too) and a lot of their stuff was cool.

I also liked when she first came, and understood Gardevoir and Spyro, to Pr. Evur's surprise.

Hmm, that's about it.

In manga, comics, stories, books, I enjoy seeing the bonds between characters grow, and their trust deepen. Seeing Pr. Evur and Gardevoir behaving like an old married couple, Hilaree and Spyro like a couple of kids who've grown up together and can understand each other despite not knowing each other very long... Even the smaller things, like how Robin behaved upon meeting them as opposed to how he'll greet us next time (Can't wait for that) are very important to me. The Pokemon seem to take to Hilaree, and there's some great friendship there, as well as her positive interactions with Pr. Evur and Robin so I wonder how she'll cope with her first "Pikachu" - a stubborn Pokemon or person who refuses to get along despite Hilaree's best efforts. That's one type of character I'd like to see in the future.

It's weird, thinking about the older parts, even though it seems like it hasn't gone that far despite all the time it's been and all the work Vye's put into it (Hi there, Vye.) .... I can still think of the beginning as something I read just a few days ago when I was looking for Pokemon fan comics... Oh, here's one with only - what'd it have then, 15 comics? - why don't I try it out?
Hilaree seemed so vicious and cocky in that first introuction scene, and as we get to know her, we still haven't seen that side of her again. Will it cop up once her Pokemon become more powerful, or once she has an encounter with a legendary Pokemon? Only time will tell, and I think I'll have quite a few more favorite moments in here.

Yup, those are fun parts. You like the closet bit, huh? I wasn't sure if that part would be that memorable. Great!

I find it funny that Robin is so well liked. Not that there's anything wrong with it. It just seemed to me in his short appearance that I wasn't able to give him much personality. (Being based off a real person made it hard to give him quirks as well. Don't want to get too far off base or offend the person.) I'm glad he was a worthwhile addition to Just Gotta, however. That's good.

I hope their rematch goes over just as well. At this point though, I doubt I'll show the whole thing. They'll probably meet up again, decide to battle, and we'll just show bits and pieces along with the final blow. Nothing is in stone at this point though. I do have bigger plans for him in the future though, so don't worry.

Heh, good. So that part went over well too.

Ha ha! Old married couple! That's perfect! Ha ha ha!

Wow. I didn't realize how many different relationships and interactions there have been and will be in Just Gotta until just now. Interesting.

Now . . . correct me if I'm wrong, when I first read this and you were talking about her first "Pikachu," I was wondering what you meant because she had Boltz. But did you mean like how Pikachu treated Ash when they first met?

Heh, but as far as characters that don't take to her right away, there will be those. One major one in fact . . .

Hi there, Amjam. Yeah, the story hasn't gone very far. Especially when I think about how long it's going to be. I'm trying to pick up the pace by taking out things that don't matter overall. There was a lot even in the chapter that has been cut. Like I mentioned the shopping thing and there was going to be a part where Hillaree basically kicked a trainer's butt in front of his friends. (And I'm not talking in a Pokemon battle!) But parts like these aren't needed and just make it longer, so they're cut.

So uh . . . yeah. Trying to go faster.

Mm . . . must not have done the end of the Robin battle very well. But I couldn't go all out with her. This was an actual person. Didn't want Hillaree to be too mean to them.

But we will see more of this side of her soon.

Anyway, thanks for humoring me with this topic. Yay for long posts! (Wait, is that a good thing?) And thanks for all your support! Love 'ya!

Heh, trying to revive a dead thread I guess.  Normally that's against the rules, but I'm in charge here and I say it's A-Okay!

I just wanted to say that the end of Chapter 7 and the beginning of Chapter 8 has been my favorite moment so far.  The whole deal with Kuri and stuff.  It's just been fun.  And Mewthree made his appearance finally!  Stuff has actually happened in Just Gotta now!

So yeah, I've been liking it.  I just haven't updated for over a week now because . . . well, mostly it's been because I've been playing video games like mad.  I also am dreading the next page.  I have it drawn and inked already.  It's a page with a lot of content which is hard to make it all fit word bubble wise.  So I keep putting it off . . .  I will get it up at some point though.  Promise.

No worries, we can always wait. <3 Play your game all you want, put it off, you deserve a break once in a while.

I have to say, I still don't like Kuri very much (although perhaps that will change once we know more about her!) but I do like Mewthree. As much as I'm inclined to sigh and shake my head at "yet another person's idea of 'Mewthree'", I actually really like the fact that you didn't make him very ridiculously physically different from Mewtwo. It also helps that you're not stealing a canon character but rather creating your own. I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised by the friend's identity so far, and cannot wait for this chapter to unfold.

Wow, I used the quote deal instead of just replying . . . haven't done that for a while.

But yes, thank you for saying so!  I think the same thing, that I need a vacation now and then.  I just wish I wouldn't draw it out as long as I have.  Hopefully, I'll get better in the future.

Thank you for saying so!  I worried that using even the name "Mewthree" would seem over done, but no one has complained yet.  And I know what you mean with those designs.  I've found some that quite frankly . . . scared me.  It's rare that I find one that I approve of.

But yeah, I play with Mewtwo's design a little, but not a whole lot.  I figure that he's freakin' perfect the way he is and I feel guilty making too many changes.  So no need to worry about me going crazy or anything.  (If that even makes sense.)
Tyto

My favorite part was probably the interaction between Gardevoir and Prof. Evur, when she was yelling at him to eat.  It made me laugh until I cried xD  Kinda odd that an attractive young guy like him hasn't been able to get a wife, though.  Do women think he's too nerdy?  Is he too buried in his work?
Vye Brante

Heh, good, I like that part too.  Glad you do.

(Slight spoiler ahead)

As we'll see in chapters to come, Pr. Evur is easily intimidated by women.  He's just too shy to ask anyone out, basically.
Oranges_and_Pears

I liked the part when Pr Evur was in pajamas. And when they were trying to figure out what town Hillaree should be from.

I guess you're really good at humor and cliffhangers. Yup. Especially humor.
Vye Brante

Heh, thanks!  Humor is hard because you never can be sure if what you think is funny will be funny to everyone else.

As a side note, Pr. Evur wasn't in his pajamas.  He actually just didn't have his lab coat thing on.  Just sayin'.
Oranges_and_Pears

Oh. Oh, well. It was still funny.
Vye Brante

Well, good then.
