Just Gotta TournamentI didn't know where to put this thread. Some of you might see this before the page on the site goes up. The rest will be lead here by it.I'm just going to clarify a few things. Firstly about the legendary Pokemon. Here's what is considered a legendary for this tournament. Legendary Pokemon: Arceus Mewtwo Lugia Ho-oh Rayquaza Dialga Palkia Giratina Kyogre Groudon Regigigas Mew Celebi Latias Latios Jirachi Deoxys (Any form, obviously) Heatran Cressilia Manaphy Darkrai Shaymin Articuno Zapdos Moltres Raikou Entei Suicune Regirock Regice Registeel Uxie Mesprit Azelf So there you go. Only one of these Pokemon can be on your team. No more. The other five members have to be regular Pokemon. I considered adding Pokemon like Dragonite and Salamence in there. Their stats are on par with a lot of the legendaries, after all. But I guess their double weakness kinda makes them easier to deal with. If you are then wondering about Celebi's inclusion in the list, well, I dunno, just seems like there would be more teams with Ice available than Bugs. That's open to dispute I guess. Also so you know, Wobbuffet is also allowed. I guess for whatever reason it was considered Uber and not allowed in tournaments. I don't know why. I don't think they're that hard to fight. It might just be because of the Arena Trap and if you got too Wobbuffet's against each other, it would take forever. But not a big deal in this tournament I don't think. And I think they fixed that in the game, if I'm not mistaken. Regarding Cheated Pokemon: It depends. A Sableye/Spiritomb with Wonder Guard is NOT allowed obviously. That's just plain cheating and just isn't fair. Pokemon with altered abilities are not allowed, so if you come across something like that in the battles, let me know so I can disqualify them. However, I will not ban Pokemon that were obtained using cheat codes but are otherwise normal. You can have an Arceus or Shaymin, for example, as long as it's your one legendary. How it's captured shouldn't matter and they are no better or worse than normal Pokemon, so they wouldn't give an unfair advantage. Any other Pokemon you think should not be allowed or one that should be? Let me know. And let me know if you have any questions. |

Well, because Celebit is weak against Bug types. It's Grass/Psychic so Bug type moves are 4x as effective, just like Ice moves are 4x as effective against Dragonite and Salamence. | ||||||||||

Are we allowed to use cheated Pokemon?
and if so, there would be a Pokemon that you'd need to ban: a Sableye with WonderGuard. I have one and use it often in the Battle Tower, but against real people, it's just not fair. |

I wouldn't add dragonite to the list because it isn't really legendary. If you train dratinis you can get 100 of them. | ||||||||||

Well, most cheated Pokemon only have altered abilities or different moves than what they would naturally learn. |

Oh! I remember now! Whether or not you'll get a rundown of the matches.
That would be fun, huh? Maybe we could start up a thread during the tournament so participants can let everyone know how their matches went. I don't know how much detail I'll be able to get, but I'll try so I can let you guys know what all happened. I'll keep as many notes as I can. |

I think having a board open would be a lot of fun, we can chat it up when it's not our match time and let people know how it went. Just a question about cheated pokemon - When you say "otherwise normal", You also mean they can't have cheated stats, right? I can see getting it and maybe making its moveset with cheats but not more than that... |

Yeah, no altered stats. I don't mind if cheat codes were used to catch it, and I don't mind if the moveset was cheated a bit too. (I mean, really, it won't help THAT much, I don't think.) But other than that, it wouldn't be allowed.
It could be hard to tell though, unless the person like REALLY messed with the stats. So this would just go back to everyone being honest. I hope they all would be. I don't see why they wouldn't either. Just hope my trust isn't misplaced. |

Ne'ways, I disagree completely with the quote, hacked Pokemon are unfair compared to legit ones, for many reasons... First of all: the fact of just getting the Pokemon, I myself have worked to get a legit Celebii, Mew, Darkai, and soon I'll get a legit Deoxys. It pisses me (And many others) to think that people can/are just typing in codes to get the same effect as legit Pokemon, a very hard to get Pokemon I might add. Second of all: the training. EV training is hard work, hear me? Hard enough getting the best natures, IV's, egg moves, the works... so to think that you'll allow someone to just hack to get the same effect as many peoples hard work, it's just...not right. It's taken me years to get my team to where it is now, and your just going to let people take a minute or two to hack and use these hacked Pokemon in your tournament? I was going to join your tournament...but... |

The main way is to use an Action Replay and program in a code that makes any Pokemon you want appear. You are then free to catch it.

*Enters Pro-Cheat Code rant mode* Good for you. However, some people, like me, were never given an oppurtunity to get any legit Pokemon. The events were held hundreds of miles away where I just couldn't go. It was only recently that a Toys 'R Us, still like 40 miles away, started doing them, and I only heard this through a rumor so I'm not even 100% sure they really were giving them away. So what was I supposed to do? Not be able to experience how it is to train those ultra rare Pokemon and by doing so have a forever incomplete Pokedex because I was not physically able to go to an event aimed at just getting me to buy more stuff while I was there? HECK NO! Action Replay gave me my answer. Yes, people abuse cheat codes. Yes, it seems unfair to those who don't use them. But I think it's wrong to just stamp cheat codes as "Wrong" and leave it at that. So, sure, you had to work hard to get those Pokemon and you can be proud of that and them. Nothing wrong with that. I still work hard at training my cheated Pokemon and I love them the exact same as the non cheated ones. Why is that wrong?
Meh. Evs. To me it's a "Don't know, don't care," subject. Why go through all the effort to raise the stats by 1, I wonder. "But it makes a huge difference!" you say. I say, "What's wrong with how the Pokemon is already?" I don't hack my Pokemon at all besides just getting them to appear so I can catch them. After that, I just use them normally. I don't bother Ev training. I play a game to have fun, not to obsess about finding the right Pokemon to raise my Pokemon's stats a little more. If that kind of training is fun for you, have at it. I'm playing my game, not working at it. That being said, you bring up a . . . somewhat . . . valid point. I said that the stats couldn't be altered and stuff. Using cheats to Ev train would make it easier and faster but otherwise wouldn't make a huge amount of difference. Still, I can ask that they not Ev train them with cheats too. Goes back to the honor system. Not like I have the ability to stop them directly.
Do as you like. I acknowledge your concerns and do not blame you for thinking that way. But I will not ban cheated Pokemon all together. It'd be like banning myself if I did want to enter . . . |

I understand completly about why you would hack to get those Pokemon, I don't disagree, however that shouldn't interfere with your tournament.
A good example would be me, and Super Smash Bros. I play as SPOILERGanondorf, have items on, and play on random levels like Norfair and Warioware. In a tournament though, I would play as Pit, perfer items be off, and only have neutral levels like Battlefield or Smashvill. See what I mean? |

I agree, to an extent. If the person I'm fighting doesn't know in advance that I'm using cheat code obtained Pokemon, then it's sorta unfair. (Either way I usually lose so doesn't matter.) But in this tournament, you guys already know they could be there so it shouldn't be as big of deal. Seriously, as long as all they did was use cheat codes to make it appear so they could catch it, it's going to be the same Pokemon as if they had caught it normally. If you come across one that you believe was hacked further, then I'd look into it. |

Yeah, it started. We're just barely into the semi finals. Some people didn't show up and some people had technical difficulties, so it took a while to get everything going. I took someone's place and fought in the tournament afterall, but realized by the second round that I actually had two legendaries on my team. I was just using the team I had on me when I turned my game on and didn't notice. So I disqualified myself. |

Yeah . . . Where people weren't showing up and the ones that were waiting were complaining, I asked him if he wanted to battle. Right afterward I knew it was stupid . . .
But people said it wouldn't be fair to kick him out. I really tried to. I was talking to him on MSN the whole time. Before the last match, he asked what would happen after it was over. I said nothing would happen and whoever won was the winner. He then asked me how many more matches there were. I told him 1 as this was the last match. And after it was over, he asked what would happen next. After I had already told him. He then asked who won. Like he didn't know!! He also said after the semi finals were over he was going to leave because it was getting late. But then once he was in the finals he didn't want to lose so he stayed on. Two HOURS after he told me he was getting off, he was still on and even sticking around in the chat room. I got off before he did, and that's saying something because I'm on the computer late! He just bugs me is all . . . You might not be able to see why. But he won, so there's not much I can do about it now. I shouldn't be biased towards the winner and favor my fans over him . . . but guess I can't help it. Just wanted my Smack Jeeves friends to win and stuff. |
