yeah, it's a lot of fun. you can move diagonally (O.o) fighting and normal type attacks do damage on ghost (not a lot though) you can get all the legies. it's easier to choose where to train (where ever they will get a challenge or massive amounts of exp.) it's also a lot more interesting, your more involved really.
this has been up for over a month, why hasn't anyone posted?
and for randomness: NEWBIES UNITE!

Huh. How did this get missed? Sorry . . .
But yeah, playing as the Pokemon is fun! You get to feel what it's like to be in their shoes, a little bit. I wish you could just choose the Pokemon you want to be. I don't like the test personally as I know who I want to be and have to keep restarting until I get it. That's just a thing with me though. Might work for other people.

that's probably to not take up as much space. if they were to do that it would be with any not yet evolved pokemon (shuckle, charmander, and snover for example) but no evolved (charmeleon, vaporeon, and gastrodon for example) and no legies. but that would be what, 200 choices? give or take 50? that's a lot to program in.
edit:oh wait, you mean out of the 17 (or was it 16) choices.

Yeah, I just wish you could pick one to be out of the ones they give you.

That's my biggest complain about the games as well actually. I normally have a pretty good idea of who I want to be and what my team will be based on the theme of the game, and it's rater annoying to keep aving to do tat personality test to get the Pokémon I want.
Guess it does fit the game though.
I have a love/hate relationship with this series. I've only played Blue Rescue Team so far, though I do have Explorers of Time and Darkness lying in the closet to be played.
On one hand, I don't really like the repetetiveness of the games, and it always feels like forever until you level up and are able to evolve.
On the other hand, I love the repetetiveness and can keep restarting the same dungeon over and over to train or get that one Pokémon to join my team >_>

Definitely start Time or Darkness. They're better by leaps and bounds. All the annoying gameplay things are fixed up (like, uh, FEEDING anyone a berry xD), and the dungeons throughout the story don't drag on and on. xD
