Rawson Family Money Troubles(Referring to Nick and June, not the entire Rawson family of course.)
Page 8 of Hillaree's story brought up the fact that Nick continues to visit his family because they send him money if he does so. This would be addressed in more detail in Nick and June's chapter, but I decided to just give a good explanation now so Nick doesn't look like a bad guy. (Letting your family pick on your kids for money? Rude!)
When Nick met June, he was enrolled in college. A very expensive college. His parents were paying for it. Then he married June, so his parents cut him completely off. This left him in quite a bind. He had to take out student loans so he could finish school. He also had to take out loans to send June to school. (She became a hair dresser, and he became a business man.)
So Nick and June were swimming in this debt and trying to support a newly adopted Hillaree as well. (Shellee was adopted later.) Then Evalin, (Nick's mother,) contacted them. She wanted to see him. They came to an agreement that Nick would return to visiting at least once a month, and they would send him a little money to help pay off his loans. Not a lot of money, but enough to help out.
So yeah, there you go. Hope it's clearer. Nick is also hoping that his family will eventually accept his wife and children, but doesn't seem to be working out. But things change. Maybe the Rawson family will.

I've never had a family member who hated me, but I used to have friends that treated me like crap.
My cousin is really nice. He drew me a Christmas card with a Pikachu on it when I was little ^^
