Sleep Status in Just Gotta

So, I'd like to see your opinions on this because I'm not sure what to do with it.

In the anime, when a Pokemon is put to sleep in a battle, it is declared the loser. In the game, you can still attack it. Which should I do in Just Gotta?

I don't have any plans for this to come up in the near future. I was just wondering. I can't decide which to do so I thought I'd get it cleared up before it becomes an issue.

you should make it like the game.

Game pleaaase. <3

I say game, but due to emotional strains that ACTUALLY EXIST in the comic (you cruel trainers, you, who'll sit through 5 turns of your poor Pokemon getting bashed in the game) I'm sure there could be creative leeway where Hilaree doesn't want Boltz beat to a pulp and forfeits or... something. You know what I mean, right?

Yup, I know exactly what you mean.

That's what I'm thinking too. If your Pokemon is asleep, would you really just stand there and watch it get beat up when it can't fight back?

But it also would seem like it was too easy. Just put them to sleep and you win! I dunno. I'm back and forth on the topic.

You could make it like the game but use an Awakening or something.

BUMPing, but I don't see any rules against it so...

I've actually always thought the Sleep status in Pokémon (or just RPGs in general really) is kinda dumb. I mean, you can't tell me that you can fall asleep, and not wake up when you're hit with something like Hydropump for example, no matter how deep your sleep is.
It's just a game mechanic, so you shouldn't take it that literally in your comic. I can see it being usefull in the way that you get into a deep sleep where you won't wake up from sound unless it's really loud, where it'd be pretty usefull in 2v2 battles though. Or to use it to get away from wild Pokémon and stuff like that. Overall I'd think moves like Spore and Sleep Powder would be more defensive mechanism in a realistic world setting.

Yeah, there's no rule against bringing up old topics.  The board as a whole can be pretty inactive at times, so I'm happy with whatever you have to say on whatever topic pretty much.

I'm easy to please.

But yeah, you have a good point.  How the heck can they stay asleep while they're getting pounded?

Fortunately, I don't plan on sleep stuff coming up for a good while, so I still have time to decide what will happen.  Probably just have the trainer wake it up or call it back.

That makes Arie troublesome though where he sleep so much.
