Steps of Just Gotta Pages

For the heck of it, I decided to make separate files of today's page so I could see the differences it makes. And also for the heck of it, I decided to put them up here so you could see them. I'm posting them as I'm editing it so you'll be able to see today's page before it's finished. (If you visit early, anyway.)

So anyway, here is what the original looks like, more or less:

So here is the original of Page 87. It's in pencil, obviously. I'll write in the words but don't draw the word bubbles. I put the sound effects where I want them as well. This page doesn't really have backgrounds, but if there were some they'd be drawn in here too.

Next step is penning. I'll put that page up soon!

Next Step

And here is the second step. Penning:

I go over the pencil in a ball point pen. (Yes, I am that professional.) I let it dry for a while and while it does that, I create a file in Manga Studio and create all the word bubbles. After the pen is dry, I erase all of the pencil except the panel borders. And the above image is what we are left with.

And here is the next step:

I import the scanned image into the already existing Manga Studio File. I move the word bubbles where they need to be and erase any dots that appear in the scanning process. I then erase any bumps or messes I create in the penning process. Next comes the lines for the panels. I draw them in and then erase what was there before. How does it look so far?

Hee hee, I'm having fun with this. I probably should hurry up and finish though. I'm taking forever.

Well, this should be the last one here.

I add the grayscale to the picture. I have most characters memorized. I usually doesn't take too long except for character who are light colored like Squirtle. For some reason, my Fill Bucket tool doesn't work with lighter grays. So I just have to use a marker.

The final step is adding those background tones we all love so much. Once I get those added, I'll put it up on Smack Jeeves!

It's cool seeing how you do your pages. Are you going to do this again in the future? :3
Vye Brante

I might, if anything changes. Or just for the heck of it. So watch for it!

Hey, I was wondering, do you use Manga Studio 3.0 Debut or EX? Or another version entirely? I've been thinking of buying Debut after making a page with the demo (though it being an evil demo won't let me save. >.<)
Vye Brante

I went ahead and paid for the full EX version. It was expensive but worth it.

However, part of the reason I got EX was for all the extra tones. The problem? I can't figure out how to get to them! They came on two extra discs and I install them but then can't see how to use them. Once I figure out that part though, it'll be even better and really worth the extra cash I paid for it.

Wow. o.o

I'll probably start by buying Debut due to limited funds on my part (hahah, I need to not be a minor any more so I can get more hours x_x), then upgrade to EX later.
Vye Brante

I think it ends up being the same price, so whatever gets you on it the fastest.
klinkhauer

yeah. Smile I'd rather start out with Debut, then save up towards the upgrade.
