This is a story of a boy living in Sunyshore city of the Sinnoh region. It's pretty long, and is only here on this forum. xD Hope you enjoy it! ^^

The Boy of Sunyshore-

Morning sun’s rays shine on the face of a young, once outgoing, but now, shy child. The eyes of this child open, revealing it’s azure color of the pupils. The boy got up, attempting to fix his long, blond hair. He is only but 14. His family moved to the port city of Sunyshore a year ago, and he has never been happier. The boy dresses himself, unable to wait for what the day can hold. The boy rushes outside, ignoring his parent’s invitations for breakfast.

Every morning the boy does this. For he wishes to see the man who holds domain here in this city, who tests the young ambitious trainers who wish to move on the biggest challenge- The Elite Four. His name is Volkner. The boy watches him from afar every morning, training his Pokémon for the day. The boy spots Volkner training on a small landmass in the water, as per usual, and the boy gazes from the rocks, ducking down so no one can see. The boy wishes to have Pokémon of his own one day…but alas, he is too afraid of them.

The boy believes Volkner to be great, and just trainer of Pokémon, and admires him. They boy is not a social type, however. He had been through too much before moving in Sunyshore. He has been beaten and bruised as a youngster, because he stook up for others, and was always told to mind his own business, but he couldn’t go through seeing others suffer. He had always felt he should do something. And the people he helped always thanked him. But, one day, he had learned sometimes you can’t always help people.

The boy was 12 on that day. He was traveling outside, gazing and watching others battle and play with their Pokémon. He had friends, the ones he helped when they were bullied. The boy was often made fun of for being scared of the even smallest Pokémon, even though he liked to watch them. He saw them as creatures with amazing powers and talents, but when they drew close to him, he saw them as frightening monsters with no hearts. The boy was strolling around, and one of his friends went up to him, asking if he wanted to watch him take on the Gym leader of the town. The boy happily agreed. His friend was going to take on Gardenia, Gym leader of Eterna city.

When the two arrived, the boy stood back, and watched his friend challenge the Gym leader. Gardenia agreed, and the referee started the battle. The boy’s friend sent out his Pokémon, a Piplup, and Gardenia sends out a Roserade. The boy watches in amazement as the two Pokémon battle, in awe of the powers each one held. But…as the battle raged on, the boy saw something that didn’t seem right. The boy realized the Pokémon were getting hurt. Even though his friend and even the gym leader continued to force them to fight. Seeing the bruises, cuts, and blood from the two sparring Pokémon, the boy couldn’t take any more of it. Seeing the two creatures hurting one another, only for the sake of entertainment of people. It made the boy sick, and made him realize this world is messed up. The boy did what his mind and heart knew how to do- stop the pain in any way he could possible.

The Piplup landed on the ground from an attack of the Roserade. The piplup was struggling to get up, and Gardenia commanded the Roserade to use vine whip. The boy immediately ran and jumped in front of the Piplup, and was hit by the attack on his left leg and left side of his hip. It was obviously painful, and the boy, cringing from the pain, had thought he saved the Piplup from the attack. The piplup was looking at the boy with what seemed to be confusion, and, the boy’s friend had an angry expression on his face, for the referee declared his friend had been disqualified because of the boy’s interference. The boy’s friend then ordered his Piplup to attack the boy, and the Piplup obeyed it’s master. The boy ran out of the gym, in pain, and was being chased by a his once friend and his attacking Pokémon, only because the boy had thought he was doing what was right in this wrong, wrong, world.

But now, the boy sits behind rocks, still admiring Pokémon. The boy now believes that humans are evil things, which torture Pokémon and force them to fight for pleasure. But, he now sees there are people like him. People like Volkner. Volkner knew when to stop a fight, and was a kind person. But the boy feels he should not interfere, with anyone. But, even though the boy was alone, he felt happy. He came to think the best way to help people is to not do anything at all. As strange as that sounded, the boy thought it was truth.

Volkner then left toward the gym, and the boy came out of hiding, to go to his favorite part of the beach in solitude. The boy does this routine every day. He watches Volkner in the morning, then eats, then stays at the beach for the rest of the day, until sunset’s end. But, little did the boy know-today is the day all that would change from a small act.
The day crept on. The boy was sitting on a rock that jetted from the sand. The boy was gazing out to the sea. But, today, the boy felt…bored of this. So, the boy got up and ventured back to his house. The sea was strangely calm and boring today. Back in his home, the boy greeted his parents, and sat down at the kitchen table. Sitting there, thinking about what he should make to eat. But as the boy did this boring task, he overheard something on the TV.

TV- “there has been no report back from the S.S. Ravinmyre! It has been 5 days since we lost signal from the cruise ship!”

The boy- (Thinking) “That is horrible…they were supposed to visit Sunyshore, weren’t they? I wonder what had happened…”

The boy decided to nap, and ponder what was the cause of the S.S. Ravinmyre’s disappearance. After the boy awoke from his napping, he looked outside. The sky was a beautiful orange. The boy decided to go back to his favorite part of the beach’s shoreline. The boy went outside, avoiding any contact of passerby. The boy reached his destination. He walked up to the water, standing in the shallowest part of it. The boy was gazing off as far as he could see. Nothing particular was to be found. The boy looked down, and sighed. But, he noticed something. He saw a silver necklace drifting into the sand. The boy quickly reaches down and snatches it. The silver necklace was a locket. The boy opened it, and it had a picture of a woman with graying hair on the inside. The picture-holding part of the locket was shaped as a poke ball. On the back side of it, the name “Relm” was etched on it.

The boy- (Thinking) “Relm? Who does this belong to? Could it be from the cruise ship that went missing? Maybe the ship is wrecked?! ….there’s nothing I can do…so it isn’t anything worth worrying about.”

Volkner- “What do you have, there?”

The boy gasps, and turns around, to see Volkner was talking to him. The boy tried his best to respond.

The boy- “I…uh…i-it’s a locket. I found it in the sand”

Volkner- “May I see it?”

The boy was confused as to why anyone, especially someone like
Volkner, would care to see it. But, the boy handed the locket over to him.

Volkner-“…you should hold onto it. You never know when it might be needed.”

The boy- (Thinking) “needed…?” (Aloud) o…okay.

Volkner hands the silver locket back to the boy, and the boy holds the locket tightly in his hand. Volkner then asks if the boy has any Pokémon yet. The boy was surprised even more so that he had asked, but the boy responded that he didn’t, and that he is scared of Pokémon. Volkner told the boy that Pokémon aren’t to be scared of, and that they just need to be understood. Volkner told the boy that he can have one of his younger Pokémon when he felt up to it. The boy was amazed at what was going on, and replied to Volkner that he would think on it. Volkner nodded and left, and the boy went back to his home, back to his bed, to think about what had happened.

The next morning, the boy pondered continuously on the day before’s events. The silver locket was too small to fit the boy. So the boy had put it in his pocket. The boy listened for any more news about the missing cruise ship. There were 3 reported survivors, including the captain of the ship. Though, none of the three looked like the picture in the locket. The three survivors were washed up in Veilstone city. Then, the boy then thought about Volkner’s offer. He wondered why he would do that for him. Maybe he knew the boy watched him train his Pokémon? The boy thought on it all day until sunset, and decided to go out back to the beach that had started all of these events.

The boy was heading toward the beach, but halted. He heard a faint noise. The boy looked around, and saw a Pokémon, sitting on the beach. The Pokémon was a Raichu. And the noise was the Raichu weeping. The boy hid behind a rock, but…felt that he had to do something. The boy felt pain for not helping the Pokémon. But the boy had thought not doing anything would be better than risking to hurt people further by taking action. The boy also feared the Raichu would attack him. But, the boy then pulled out the silver locket. He looked at it, and remembered what Volkner had told him. “You should hold onto it. You never know when it might be needed”

The boy stood up, gripping on the locket tightly. And walked slowly toward the weeping Raichu on the shore. The boy walked up to it, and noticed by its tail that it was a female. The boy was very nervous, but he continued to walk toward it. Once he was one foot away from it, the raichu looked up at him, with tears in its eyes. The boy was saddened by it, but, his heart told him what he must do. By some odd instinct, the boy knelt down, put out his hand with the silver locket, offering the locket to the raichu. The Raichu looked at the boy’s face with a confused, but still sad expression. Then the raichu looked down at his hand, and the Raichu’s eyes widened. The raichu stood up, and grabbed the locket carefully from the boy’s hands. The boy was in awe of what was going on. The raichu put the locket around her neck, and looked at the boy, and smiled. The boy then thought Pokémon aren’t scary heartless things after all. The boy stood up, still looking at the raichu, who now seemed to be the “Relm” etched on the locket.
The boy turned around, and started to walk away. But the raichu then followed him. The boy turned back to the raichu. The raichu made a noise, probably saying that she wanted to go with him.
The boy- “you want to…go with me?”
Relm- (Nods) “Rai!”

The raichu leaps toward the boy, and the boy catches the raichu in his arms. The boy now knew he will do whatever it takes to make the raichu, Relm, happy. To help it not feel pain of losing it’s previous master. The boy decided to then go off on his own with Relm. Adventuring and exploring the world he once thought was cruel and mean. But now, he would be able to face it, with his new friend.
